PHOTOS: GE Healthcare Employees Get Waukesha Schools Ready for New Year

was full of activity Wednesday as 164 GE Healthcare volunteers were painting hallways and offices, landscaping the outdoor area, fixing a flood-prone shed and upgrading the long jump area.

The volunteers were getting school buildings ready for the 2012-13 school year. In addition to Butler Middle School, GE employees were at 15 Milwaukee schools and four other public schools in Waukesha:

“It is not just for your school,” explained Benjamin Fox, global public relations manager for GE Healthcare. “It is for your neighborhood.”

More than 2,800 GE employees volunteered during the company’s largest single-day worldwide volunteer event in its 18th year. In addition to current GE employees, nearly 200 volunteers from outside the company joined in the event including GE retirees and members of the Milwaukee Bucks and BloodCenter of Wisconsin, according to a news release.
