Ways to Financial Success Class

This three-hour class is divided into three, approximately one-hour sessions: 1) “The Importance of Budgeting & Saving,” 2) “How to Open and Manage a Checking Account” and 3) “How to Understand and Manage Credit.”

During “The Importance of Budgeting & Saving,” you'll learn the significance of tracking your income and expenses to create and adhere to a realistic budget.   We'll also demystify interest-bearing checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs and 401k accounts. 

In “How to Open and Manage a Checking Account,” we'll discuss the cost and benefits of bank accounts, ChexSystems and second-chance accounts, and show a side-by-side comparison of the cost of banks vs. check cashing stores.  We'll also show you an easy way to reconcile your checking account!

In the third session, “How to Understand and Manage Credit,” explains credit reports and credit scores.  We'll share strategies to build good credit and repair bad credit.  You'll also learn about scams and predatory practices targeted to people trying to improve their financial life.
