Wall of Prejudice Discussion Continues at Carroll University

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, panelists will again convene for a dialogue regarding the that was displayed on Carroll University’s campus April 16-19. Breaking down the Wall of Prejudice will begin at 7 p.m. in the Stackner Ballroom of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend this free event. Refreshments will be provided.

The panel will share its reflections and responses to the wall and the discussions it has inspired on campus. It will be moderated by Dr. Jennifer Huck, assistant professor of sociology. Current panelists include:

  • Declan Boran-Ragotzy, sophomore Spanish major with minors in early adolescence and teen education, adaptive license for kids with disabilities, and theatre arts, Admission Ambassador, active in theater, choir and Latin American Student Organization.
  • Katy Launius, AmeriCorps*VISTA and coordinator of Carroll’s Volunteer Center, 2010 Carroll graduate and 2005 graduate of Waukesha South High School, Waukesha resident, member of Chi Omega sorority.
  • Ian Lowe, director of chapter operations, Pi Lambda Phi international fraternity.
  • Kalyn Stroik, senior biology major, community coordinator of Pioneer Hall, vice president of Queers and Allies, Questions and Answers (Q&A) student organization, has organized several diversity programs and initiatives at Carroll, will attend Colorado State University to pursue a master’s degree in higher education next fall.
  • Karla Strand, diversity librarian, 2003 Carroll graduate, Waukesha resident and single parent to 14-year-old son, adviser to Q&A and facilitator of Alliance, Carroll's first LGBTQA Learning Community.
