WAUKESHA – Memory and poetry often go hand in hand, one inspiring
the other.  Each of us is caretaker for
our own life story.  These stories open
our heart and connect us with the mystery of life.  Where do we find, and how do we tell, our
stories?  What hinders us?  What opens the door of memory?  Wisconsin’s First Poet Laureate Ellen Kort
will help you reach for that doorknob in Finding Your Story Through the Door of
Poetry.  Poetry can be an amazing tool
when used to explore and celebrate who we are; our sense of identity and
meaning. When we unfold our stories and focus on the beauty of who we are as
human beings, our stories provide pathways of knowing that remind us that we
are connected to our ancestors and to each other.  If we learn to live our lives like Story, we
can better appreciate our own journey and where it takes us.  Bring a notebook or journal and your favorite
pen.
