Civil War Honor Day

Waukesha is honoring Civil War veterans with a full day of activities at the Waukesha County Museum, Cutler Park and Prairie Home Cemetery.

The day begins with a rededication ceremony of the monument honoring Waukesha’s Civil War soldiers at Prairie Home Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

Then, the museum will host a presentation from 11a.m. - noon on The Civil War Home Front: Early Days of Soldiers Relief Efforts in Wisconsin.

Also at the museum will be all-day activities: viewing Civil War objects at the Curator's table, tasting a soldier's snack of hardtack, playing historic games, setting up a soldier's camp, going on a scavenger hunt in the Civil War exhibit, making a drum, and playing the flag signal challenge. 

All activities are free with museum admission and are available from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

At 2 p.m., join the festivities in Cutler Park for the rededication of the Civil War monument, which is turning 100 years old.
