Amazing Amish Acres-World Culture Day Trips (UW-Waukesha Continuing Education)

May 14, 2011,Saturday,  7:00AM - 6:15PM

Explore the Amish culture in Wisconsin!  Stop at the Rippin' Good Cookie Outlet store where upon entering the store you will see rows of shelves and boxes piled high with every imaginable variety of cookie and cracker.  Then visit the city of Markesan where we will start our exploring of the Amish Community at the local Civic Center.  Sample a snack of fresh fruit, fresh from the oven Amish made sweet rolls and donuts, along with coffee, milk or lemonade.  Tour local Amish shops including the Pleasant View Bakery, Lilac Wood Shop and Mischler's Grocery Store. You might want to purchase fresh bakery to take home and also items from the grocery store. Our coach will be full of wonderful aromas of homemade breads, pies, and doughnuts!  Enjoy a delicious lunch buffet consisting of Amish bread rolls, relishes, noodles, green bean bake, open-air pork, free range roasted chicken, coffee, milk or lemonade. After this filling lunch we continue with our tour with a stop at a cheese factory. Of course, we need a little more to eat before heading home, so we stop for pie and ice cream at a local home (weather permitted). As we travel homeward, we think of our new Amish friends and their ways.
