Consortium to Develop New Teacher Evaluation Plan

Waukesha School Board was updated on progress during last week's meeting.

Chief Academic Officer/Deputy Superintendent Dana Monogue for the briefly updated the school board on progress being made in during last week's board meeting.

Monogue is heading up the development of the plan, along with Chief Academic Officer of the Pewaukee School District Mark Hansen, former Waukesha School District director of curriculum and instruction.

Monogue said the group was working "thoroughly and thoughtfully" to develop a comprehensive plan. It will be a departure from past practice and represents a paradigm shift in evaluating teachers, she said.

According to newly developed state guidelines, Monogue said, “student achievement outcomes” will have an equal share to observation data when evaluating teachers. Student achievement outcomes are being added to the evaluation process to take into consideration teacher effectiveness.

Student achievement outcomes could include statewide testing results and other district-wide common assessments.
