Banting, Bethesda Get New Principals for 2013-14 School Year

Waukesha School District also hires a director of instruction for sixth through 12th grade.

Students in the Waukesha School District will see new faces next school year.

Banting Elementary School and Bethesda Elementary School are getting new principals. Mary Garcia Velez, principal at Deer Creek Intermediate School in St. Francis, will lead Banting Elementary School. Melissa Yow, who left the Waukesha School District this school year to be the principal at Maple Grove Elementary School in Greenfield, will return to the Waukesha School District as the principal of Bethesda Elementary School.

“We really, really wanted to retain her here, but we didn’t have a position available at the time,” said Superintendent Todd Gray about Yow’s year absence from the Waukesha School District.

The Waukesha School District also is hiring a new director of instruction for sixth through 12th grade. Ron Rivard, an assistant superintendent in Waterford, was hired by the Waukesha School Board on Wednesday.
