A new Residence Hall for Carroll University

Waukesha college students to move in this weekend.

A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday afternoon at new residence hall, Frontier Hall, which will be open to students this weekend.

The dorm is located at 210 N. Grand Ave. across the street from the school's track.

The Waukesha Common Council approved last year entering into a tax incremental financing agreement with the property owner and developer to provide $1.3 million toward the construction of the building. The funding will be repaid to the city through the increased property taxes generated by the increased value of the building.

The project is adding 42 part-time and 42 full-time jobs, according to city documents, and is guaranteed to add $8.9 million in value to the property. The property owners paid $9,922 in taxes to the city each year, which will increase to $93,528 following the redevelopment of the property, city documents state.

Frontier Hall was built by Clysmic Properties, owned by Waukesha developers A. William and Alan Huelsman. Clysmic Properties owns both Pioneer Hall and Frontier Hall, co-ed apartment-style residential communities that house residents in gender-specific quad apartments. Each unit has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and kitchen.

Frontier Hall's first floor will contain several retail outlets, including The names of both halls reflect Carroll's history and heritage as Wisconsin's oldest four-year institution of higher education, according to a news release from Carroll University.
