Waukesha County Board Chairman Hosts Economic Development Summit

Waukesha County Board Chairman Paul Decker gathered leaders in economic development Monday to discuss the creation of a website.

Waukesha County Board Chairman Paul Decker gathered leaders in economic development Monday to discuss the creation of a website that will leverage resources and strengthen regional assets of the organizations that promote economic development in the county.

“The vision is to tie the primary economic development entities of Waukesha County through a communal portal that strengthens our combined position on the web and makes it easier for our customers and future clients to find exactly what they need,” said Chairman Decker. “We are stronger together than we are apart.”

NeoCloud, a Waukesha County based internet marketing consulting firm, presented a mock-up of the website and illustrated how it could be fashioned to meet each organization’s needs.  Jason Schultz, Managing Member of NeoCloud, said in the new Internet world websites need to be “fast, dynamic and fun.” Having all the economic development entities under one web umbrella would be a great asset to those looking to expand their business or relocate in Waukesha County.

“Each organization will be asked to contribute content to the website,” said Chairman Decker. “This could include job openings or networking opportunities. Education centers can post academic and training opportunities that lead to employment.”

Attendees of the summit included representatives from: Waukesha County, University of Wisconsin-Extension, Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation, Waukesha County Business Alliance, University of Wisconsin-Waukesha, Waukesha County Technical College, Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington (W-O-W) Workforce Development Board, Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, Pewaukee Chamber of Commerce, Hartland Chamber of Commerce and WE Energies.

“With enhanced connectivity using 21st century methods to increase outreach and positive interaction, I am confident that your organization will be even stronger going forward in this collaboration,” said Chairman Decker.

The group will meet again to refine plans within the next month.
