Rogers' Specialist Addresses Anxiety Disorders at National Alliance on Mental Health-Wisconsin

David M. Jacobi, Ph.D., a clinical supervisor at Rogers Memorial Hospital, will present a breakout session during the annual conference (May 2-3) of the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI)-Wisconsin. Dr. Jacobi’s presentation, “Understanding and Treating Anxiety Disorders,” will be held on Friday afternoon, May 2, from 3 to 4:15 p.m., at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, Wis.

During the workshop, Dr. Jacobi will review diagnostic information for anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and agoraphobia. In addition, he will describe the cognitive behavioral model of anxiety and offer an overview of evidence-based interventions for these disorders including exposure-based approaches.

As a clinical supervisor of cognitive behavioral services, Dr. Jacobi primarily works with pediatric and eating disorder residential patients who need treatment for OCD and other anxiety disorders. His background includes extensive experience treating anxiety disorders in both the United States and Canada.

NAMI-Wisconsin’s annual statewide conference is expected to draw more than 400 mental health consumers, family members and professionals. Attendees gather to learn more on current treatment for mental illness, network with peers from around the state and support the mental health movement in Wisconsin.
