United Way in Waukesha County to Celebrate Eighth Born Learning Trail

United Way in Waukesha County will host a ribbon cutting on Saturday, August 10 for the launch of Waukesha County’s eighth Born Learning Trail at Wirth Park in Brookfield.

The Born Learning Trail will help parents, grandparents, caregivers and the community create quality, early-learning opportunities for young children. Included in the trail are signs with suggested activities for adults and children to participate in together. For instance, the Watch! Stop! Learn! Play! sign encourages caregivers to follow the child’s lead, building the child’s curiosity and confidence. This series of learning activities is one that any adult can play with young children at the park. Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign that helps parents, grandparents and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities. For more information, visit www.BornLearning.org.

The ribbon celebration will begin at 12:00 PM and coincides with UPS’ annual softball tournament at Wirth Park. City of Brookfield Mayor Ponto will speak, along with City of Waukesha Mayor Scrima. United Way in Waukesha County’s Executive Director, Jayne Thoma, will also say a few words to commemorate the occasion.

The United Way in Waukesha County offers this opportunity and credits the Trail installation to its sponsor, UPS, who continue to serve the community with resources and volunteers. UPS volunteers completed the first stage of Trail installation on Thursday, August 1 and will be finishing installation on Thursday, August 8, with the ribbon cutting celebration set for Saturday, August 10, 2013. Partners of the Trail include the following organizations: City of Brookfield Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department, UPS and United Way in Waukesha County.
