Giving of both time and money to charitable causes usually increases during the holiday season. At times, all of the solicitations can seem very daunting and everyone who donates wants the time and money they give to have the ultimate impact. That’s where the United Way in Waukesha County comes in. United Way focuses on important community impact issues and the dollars raised in Waukesha County stay in Waukesha County. Funds raised by United Way are allocated to local programs which help make our community a better place to live and work. So without further ado, here is our top ten list on why you should donate to the United Way in Waukesha County this holiday season.  

1. Your dollars make a real difference right here in Waukesha County. A donation of $1 per week ($52) would provide seven individuals at a local shelter the nourishment they need for nine days. 

2. United Way partners with 33 local agencies and funds nearly 70 programs to produce lasting change in the community.

3. Giving a donation in honor of a loved one is a far better gift than a fruitcake. Your loved one thinks so too. 

4. Your one contribution to United Way will serve many organizations and meet many needs in Waukesha County. 

5. Through the Helping Kids Succeed initiative, United Way addresses the issue of parental engagement in our community. United Way and its partners help parents/guardians actively engage with their children in school, the community, and in family related activities. Last year, 95% of families who participated in the United Way-funded initiative that works to increase parental involvement in a child’s life saw their child’s attendance, grades, and behavior improve.

6. Last year United Way helped a total of 71,812 people in Waukesha County. That’s roughly the population of the City of Waukesha! 

7. United Way addresses the issue of financial education in our community through the Financial Stability initiative. United Way and its partners help hardworking families struggling to meet basic needs increase their income, build savings, and gain assets. Last year, 94% of participants have received one-on-one coaching about budgeting and are using a budget to increase savings and build assets.

9. United Way measures success by reviewing all investments. Just as you expect results in business investments, you should expect results from your charitable giving efforts.
