Woodman's Rezoning Request Going Before Plan Commission

Construction on new grocery store could start in 2012.

The Waukesha Plan Commission will hear a request at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday  at City Hall for Woodman’s Food Market to be constructed at the former Spancrete site.

The 33.7-acre property at East Main Street and Highway 164 needs to be rezoned  from a manufacturing district to a community business district. The city’s land use plan would also need to be amended by the Plan Commission from industrial to commercial use.

The building plans are not yet on the Plan Commission agenda.

Woodman’s is expected to begin construction in 2012, pending all government approvals, the news release states.

“This has been and will continue to be a team effort,” Scrima said in the release. “We look forward to the quality of products, economic revitalization and jobs that Woodman’s will provide to our community.”
