Members of the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team were told this weekend that they might again be deployed this fall.
While their deployment location hasn’t been determined, a 12-month mobilization would likely include nine months overseas. Also, the Department of Defense hasn’t released how many of the 3,400 soldiers will be deployed and the notification doesn’t mean they will definitely deploy, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
If called up, this would be the second time the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s largest unit in Wisconsin has been deployed.
The Brigade’s last deployment was in 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, but the Brigade was notified in 2007 that they were being deployed and they spent one year training before they left for Iraq. The brigade conducted base security and detainee operations.
