Waukesha Bypass A Possibility? Meeting Tonight On Long-Rumored Project

So what exactly is going on with the proposed West Waukesha Bypass that everyone is talking about?

The West Waukesha Bypass project has been talked about for the last 60 years, but until April 2009, nothing moved forward. In 2009, state, county, city and town officials “signed a memorandum of understanding that identifies the local, county, and state funding, jurisdictional transfer, and project development responsibilities allowing the West Waukesha Bypass project to proceed to the engineering and environmental study phase and to ultimately be constructed,” an informational document states.

The factors for the project includes the history, regional and local transportation, traffic demands, safety concerns and more, according to the document.

If the project receives all final approvals, the construction could begin in 2012 or 2013, according to the West Waukesha Bypass website.
