Auto Body Shop Gets Preliminary Plan Approval

Hall Automotive Group looking to redevelop former Lakeland Marine property into 20,200-square-foot building.

The Hall Automotive Group is preparing to raze the former Lakeland Marine building to construct a 20,200-square-foot building that would include an auto body shop, parts and storage, offices, a quick lube and a quick car wash, according to preliminary plans approved Wednesday night by the Waukesha Plan Commission.

The property at 704 Bluemound Road will be redeveloped to construct the new building. The project will have to return to the Plan Commission for final plan approval, which the Plan Commission is requesting the addition of more trees and changing light fixture elements.

Despite the requested changes after the preliminary plans were presented, Plan Commissioner Joan Francoeur – who chaired the meeting in Mayor Jeff Scrima’s absence – said she was delighted with the redevelopment concept.

“I am glad that you are coming and refreshing the area,” said Francoeur, adding she liked the way the plans were structured to have the building closer to the roadway and the parking toward the back.
