Waukesha Metro Transit Gets $123K Federal Grant

Waukesha Metro Transit will rebuild engines and transmissions on city buses.

was awarded $123,200 to rebuild its engines and transmissions to extended the useful lives of city buses, according to a news release from U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl.

Waukesha is one of eight Wisconsin communities to receive transportation grants from $20 million in federal funding.

"This new equipment will not only make transit safer and more reliable, but will also save money on fuel costs and reduce pollution," Kohl said in the news release. "Buses are a prime source of transportation in many cities throughout Wisconsin. Our current bus system is in need of repair and this funding will help update the transit systems across the state."Β Β
