Waukesha Gun Range Plans Expansion

New concealed carry law among reasons for addition at Fletcher Arms.

With the new state law that allows for concealed carry and increased popularity of shooting at gun ranges creating the need for more space, the owner of in Waukesha went before the Plan Commission to request approvals to expand the gun range on the east side of the city.

The Plan Commission voted unanimously to approve the 787.5-square-foot addition to include five additional shooting booths at the rear of the building at 1441 E. Main St.

There was some discussion during the Plan Commission meeting if Fletcher Arms would be required to have a 6-foot fence. Robert Ford, owner of Ford Construction, told the Plan Commission the building owner would prefer to not have a high fence, as it would limit visibility for customers and for police on patrol.

Ultimately, the Plan Commission agreed Fletcher Arms could opt out of the fence. A landscaping plan is being required.
