Waukesha Common Council Approves Mayoral Appointments

However, aldermen express frustrations with the lateness of receiving information from mayor's office.

The Waukesha Common Council approved Mayor Jeff Scrima’s appointments Tuesday night, despite concerns about the timeliness of receiving the information.

Alderwoman Kathleen Cummings told the mayor that because she was informed of who would be getting selected to the appointments by phone at 4:56 p.m. Monday.

Alderman Steve Johnson agreed with Cummings and asked for the appointments to be given to the council earlier. Between one and two dozen people were up for appointments and typically the information is given to the aldermen on Friday. The information was e-mailed to the aldermen and press around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

“To receive these appointments at such a late time and not being able to call, make some inquiries and check some of this stuff, I really hope that in the future that these appointments come out a lot earlier than at the last second,” Johnson said.

Scrima did not offer an explanation during the Common Council meeting and did not immediately return phone calls seeking clarification.
