Richard Hastings is the next alderman for District 12, the Waukesha Common Council decided Tuesday night following a closed-ballot vote.
Hastings is a development engineer at Harley-Davidson. He said in his cover letter to the Common Council he believes he can use his engineering experience to make factually based decisions about Waukesha’s future.
Hastings will replace Alderman Charles Lichtie, who resigned Feb. 17 from his position because of ongoing health problems.
"I just feel that as an alderman you should be able to give it 100 percent," said Lichtie on Feb. 17.
The other candidates that were up for consideration included:
- James Connors, a former alderman who lost to Lichtie last April.
- Richard Hanson, a former Waukesha School Board member.
- Steve Mackie, owner of .
- Keith Michalski, a donor relations advisor for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
- J. Michael Sturino, an attorney with Gendlin, Liverman & Rymer.
