Town of Waukesha to Discuss City’s Water Service Area in Closed Session

The DNR is asking the city to obtain the approval of the town board to include the town lands in the future water service area, which is a plan that is a requirement of the application. The town’s approval does not automatically mean the town land would receive Great Lakes water if the application is approved, but it does mean the town has the possibility to receive Lake Michigan water in case it experiences well failures.

 The town board’s agenda for the closed session states it will be in closed session for the “deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session with respect to a water service area proposal.”

A phone message seeking further clarification as to why the issue is being held in closed session left with Town Chairwoman Angie E. Van Scyoc was not immediately returned. A message was left with Town Attorney Hector de la Mora's office but de la Mora had left the office for the day by the time the agenda was distributed to new media.
