State Rep. Bill Kramer Walks Out During Tribal Speech

The Waukesha legislator says he walked out because he felt disrespected by tribal leader's speech.

State Rep. Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha, walked out of a tribal speech after a Ojibwe tribal leader challenged legislatures over mining legislation, reported the Associated Press.

The Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Chairman, Gordon Thayer, said 11 tribes in Wisconsin opposed a Republican law relaxing mining regulations. A separate Associated Press report said Thayer also criticized the state's first official wolf hunt.

Kramer, who said he is a member of the Red Cliff band of Ojibwe, says he walked out because he disagreed with Thayer, according to the AP report.
