Rep. Kuglitsch Pleased with Cuts in Spending Proposed in Governor's Budget

Assemblyman issues statement following Gov. Scott Walker's budget address.

State Rep. Mike Kuglitsch, R-New Berlin, who represents portions of Waukesha issued this statement about Gov. Scott Walker's budget address.

“After years of poor budgeting by past administrations, Governor Scott Walker introduced his 2011-2013 biennial budget that would eliminate Wisconsin’s $3.6 billion deficit without raising taxes or fees, and paves the way for expanding our economy and creating jobs across the state.

“Families across the state have felt economic hardship and they have had to tighten their belt at home. At the state level, we must do the same. We simply do not have the resources to continue spending money we do not have and I am pleased that Governor Walker’s budget reduces spending by $4.2 billion over the next two years.

“This is an overwhelming task; however, we can no longer push this insurmountable debt onto our children and grandchildren. This biennial budget will reduce our overall structural deficit by 90 percent to $250 million, which is a huge step towards economic tranquility for future generations.

“I promised my constituents that I will do everything I can not only to put Wisconsinites back to work, but also balance our overwhelming budget deficit. This legislation puts Wisconsin on track to be economically stable without putting the burden on the taxpayers of this state. I am honored to work alongside Governor Walker in his challenge to tackle this financial predicament we are currently facing.”
