Recount Possible in Waukesha’s Downtown District’s Election

Lenny Miller is planning to ask for a recount after unofficial tallies put him behind Roger Patton by eight votes.

A recount is possible in Waukesha’s District 11 aldermanic election after unofficial results put Roger Patton as the winner over Lenny Miler by eight votes.

Miller told The Waukesha Freeman he will request a recount after votes are canvassed. The newspaper is reporting the $25 for the recount expenses will have to be born by Miller.

Patton received 202 votes in the downtown district to remain on the Waukesha Common Council to Miller’s 194 votes. The pair faced each other in 2010 when Patton was first elected as an alderman.

Miller told Waukesha Patch on Friday he has to wait until the official canvassing is completed.

“I just want to rule out any machine errors and human errors,” Miller said. “I don’t suspect fraud or anything, I just want to make sure everything was done and that no mistakes were made.”

Miller was surprised by the results, he said, because people he had spoken with during the election shared their hopes for a new alderman in the downtown district.
