POLL: Should Dogs Be Allowed on Riverwalk?

A proposal is coming forward that would allow dogs on leashes on the riverwalk between the Clock Tower and Bethesda Park.

Dog lovers in Waukesha have few choices when it comes to taking their dogs to the park. The majority of the parks in the area ban the four-footed creatures.

It might come as a surprise to some dog walkers who take their pooch for a stroll through and along the riverwalk. Dogs are frequently taken for walks or even go swimming in the Fox River. But it is against the city’s ordinances.

But the city could open up a portion of the Riverwalk to leashed dogs. The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday to consider a proposal to allow dogs on a leash on the riverwalk between the Clock Tower through . The meeting is being held at the , 1900 Aviation Drive.
