Plan Commission Approves Mural for Downtown Waukesha Building

Couri Insurance building to get new look with Fox River-themed art work.

The Waukesha Plan Commission unanimously approved a new mural that will be painted on the west side of Couri Insurance, 379 W. Main St., during its meeting Wednesday night.

Artist Chris Vincent will paint a Fox River theme on the building that is located in downtown Waukesha’s west end. City Planner Mike Hoeft said the Public Art Committee had no issue with the mural and city staff was recommending approval.

“It is kind of a montage of three pictures that capture our area in Wisconsin,” Vincent said.

While general questions were asked about the longevity of the paint, Vincent assured the commission that a graffiti coat will be placed on top, which will help with peeling and weather affects. The coat will allow graffiti to be wiped off while not touching the finished mural.
