New Property Assessments Going Out This Week

Only properties owners who took out building permits or requested an assessment review will receive new assessments this year.

Some properties in Waukesha were reassessed this year and those property owners can hold informal discussions about their assessments from May 1 through May 3 with the according to a memo from Assessor Paul Klauck to Mayor Jeff Scrima, the Common Council and area media outlets.

The property assessment notices will go out from the Assessor’s Office on Friday.

“Only those property owners who took out building permits or requested a review of their assessments will be receiving notices,” the memo states.

The Board of Review is where property owners can formally appeal their assessment. The Board of Review will meet at 8 a.m. May 14. In order to formally appeal the board, the property owner needs to file a “Notice of Intent” with the City Clerk’s office at least 48 hours before the May 14 meeting. They must also file a written objection prior to or within the first two hours of the first board meeting.

An appointment is necessary to meet with the board of review.
