New Health and Human Services Building Being Constructed in 2012

Waukesha County Executive Dan Vrakas announced this week for the new building on the is expected to begin next year.

The county’s five-year capital plans allow for the county to plan and budget for major capital projects including buildings and roads.  

Some changes were made in the Health and Human Services building Capital Plans project via County Board ordinance last week to take advantage of an estimated $500,000 in savings due to the current favorable bidding climate. Waukesha County received favorable bids for the Health and Human Services Building and can coordinate and procure materials this fall allowing for a strong construction start next spring.

The Waukesha County Board of Supervisors will review the entire 2012 budget in late September with final passage expected in November. The entire capital plan was released Thursday.

About 40 percent of  five-year capital projects plan is dedicated to highway improvements. These projects include the expansion of County Trunk Highway (CTH) VV (Silver Spring Drive) and the construction of the second phase of CTH L (Janesville Road).  The plan also addresses the widening of the second phase of CTH M (North Avenue) between CTH YY (Pilgrim Road) and Calhoun Road, with construction slated to begin in 2019, and the construction of the Waukesha West Bypass, under a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Department of Transportation, with construction slated to begin in 2012.
