Local Teachers to Take Part in Regional Protests Over Walker's Budget Repair Bill

Bill would limit the collective bargaining rights of government employees.

The Waukesha school teachers are not happy with Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, which calls for the limitation of collective bargaining for benefits, according to a local union official.

Don Casey, a head union negotiator for the Waukesha teachers, said the teachers have not planned a protest locally. However, they will be joining regional movements, such as the demonstrations planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Madison.

“Our teachers plan to participate as much as their schedules allow,” Case said.
