The George Gunn Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation, established in 1993, is named for George Gunn, AIA, long-time member of the City of Waukesha Landmarks Commission representing the architectural profession. As a member of the Commission, Mr. Gunn had an abiding interest in maintaining the architectural integrity of structures through the processes of accurate historic preservation and/or restoration. To this end, he shared his expertise unselfishly with those engaged in such projects. The George Gunn Award will honor and be presented to those individuals who exhibit the Gunn spirit in preservation/restoration projects involving structures representative of Waukesha’s rich architectural history.

The John Schoenknecht Spirit of Preservation Award was established in 2000 to honor citizens who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in the preservation of more than one historically significant building, structure, or site, or have contributed in a tangible and exemplary manner to further historic preservation in Waukesha.

One final neighborhood water meeting

There’s one last chance to attend a neighborhood water meeting. District 2, which is Waukesha Alderman Eric Payne’s district, on the city’s future water supply and plans to purchase Great Lakes water will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Even if you aren’t a District 2 resident, you can still attend the informational meeting.
