Kurt O'Bryan Ousted in School Board Race

Barbara Brzenk, Karin Sue Rajnicek and Joe Como elected to serve on Waukesha School Board.

Barbara Brzenk, Joe Como and Karin Sue Rajnicek were elected to the Waukesha School Board for the next three years.

Incumbent School Board Member Kurt O'Bryan was defeated by 276 votes compared to the third place position. The four candidates were seeking election to the three seats that were up for election.

Brzenk received the most votes, taking the lead with 10,395 votes. Como received 10,384 votes. Rajnicek received 10,380 votes to secure the third seat on the Waukesha School Board. O'Bryan received 10,104 votes. Results are unofficial until canvassing.

Congratulations to all three who made it. A sincere thank you to Mr. O'Bryan for his service to the board as well. Good luck going forward to everyone and let's keep Waukesha Schools great!

Those are going to be some long meetings. The best to Mr. O'Bryan moving forward--you're probably the luckiest one.

Thanks for the kind comments from both sides. I did my best to serve the community and with the help of other board members, we accomplished a great deal. I am sure Karin will receive a warm welcome from the other board members. She ran a strong campaign and remaining active in her children's education will help her become a better board member. I am sure she will do just fine. My advice is for her to build solid relationships with as many board members as possible. If you lose a vote, move on to the next problem.

I'm impressed by Mr. O'Bryan's classy approach to the outcome. I hope the newly-elected school board will work together to truly benefit Waukesha's students.
