Alderman John Kalblinger is stepping down from the Waukesha Common Council after accepting an employment position "elsewhere," according to his resignation letter.

Kalblinger represents District 7. His seat is up for election in April 2014.

"It has been an honor to work with you and a privilege to serve my neighbors as the seventh district alderman in the City of Waukesha," Kalblinger said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to have served the city we all love."

Kalblinger's resignation is effective Oct. 25.
