Higher Voter Turnout Than Expected in Waukesha

Nearly 9 percent of registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday's primary election.

Nearly 9 percent of the city’s registered voters cast a ballot in which was higher than anticipated.

More than 4,000 ballots were cast, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Gina Kozlik said. However, those results are unofficial until the county completes canvassing.

The results were varied in each district, Kozlik said, with smaller amounts voting on some districts and other districts had higher turnouts. Popular polling places included the high schools.

Kozlik said Tuesday night she ordered ballots for 10 percent of the voters in the city and did not need to ask Waukesha County for more by the end of the night.

Kozlik said not all the polling locations necessarily received the same percentage of ballots.
