Group Alleges 3 Waukesha Residents Exceeded Campaign Contribution Limits

Shorewood, Brookfield and Wauwatosa residents also listed on complaint sent by Wisconsin Democracy Campaign to Government Accountability Board.

An insurance executive, a manufacturing company owner and a Waukesha County Board supervisor are among 29 political contributors that are being accused of exceeding campaign contribution limits in 2010 by the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, according to a news release from the organization.

The following Waukesha residents were listed in the complaint:

  • Judith Couri, Couri Insurance Agency, $16,100
  • David Bahl, Weldall Manufacturing, $11,580
  • Walter Kolb, Audio Implements/GKC and Supervisor, $10,650

Kolb said Wednesday that he was asked to sign an affidavit about the issue without the Government Accountability Board, which he called “loaded with liberals,” checking on his marital status.

Between Kolb and his wife, they donated less than $20,000, he said.

“We did nothing wrong,” Kolb said. “… It is a complete fabrication and a complete lie.”

Attempts to contact Couri and Bahl were unsuccessful. A news release from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign states that Couri’s donation is among 24 that went toward Republican candidates. It does not clarify where Bahl’s and Kolb’s were given.

A voicemail was also left with the Government Accountability Board.
