Hi. I'm Scott Walker.  Every day’s a bonus; that's what I read on the back of a shirt the first time I sent off an Honor Flight full of on a trip to our nation’s capital.  Every day's a bonus was written across the Honor Flight shirts.

For those of you who don’t know, are an attempt to get as many World War II veterans as possible to visit their memorial in Washington, D.C. at no cost to the Veterans.  Spending time with a plane full of heroes is a moving and humbling experience.

The men and women I met over the years who were survivors of Pearl Harbor and World War II, all seem to share the sentiment that every day’s a bonus. These veterans I’ve met think about their fellow Americans who didn't make it past that dreaded day some 70 years ago. Many of them were barely adults when they had to grow up fast.

The men and women of that era - the greatest generation - showed determination and courage. They did grow up fast and they literally saved the world.  Now, seven decades later, we need to continue to thank them and revere them for generations to come.

As the Honor Flight motto says, “We can’t all be heroes.  Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by.”  To all the men and women of the greatest generation – Wisconsin applauds you.  Thank you
