Gov. Scott Walker, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive Chris Abele and others will honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a special ceremony Tuesday at the Milwaukee War Memorial Center.

Wreaths will be placed in the reflecting pool at the War Memorial’s Fitch Plaza and speakers will remember the lives lost. Gurmal Singh of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin will give a prayer.

After the program, everyone is invited to ring the bell of the USS Milwaukee in memory of the victims.

“11 years after the attacks most of us have returned to our daily routines, but we must never forget the first responders and those that were killed,” Abele said.

“It’s important that we gather to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th and to pay tribute to the members of the armed services who continue to risk their lives to protect us,” Barrett said.
