Van Scyoc was defeated as town chairwoman in April 2013. Both Van Scyoc and Banske were successful in recalling two-thirds of the Town of Waukesha Board of Supervisor over the Waukesha Water Utility’s attempts to purchase land in the town to build shallow wells.

"I got 1098 votes. Jim received 1171. That's 73 votes more for him than me," Banske posted on his Facebook account after the election. "Oh well. Seems like God is pointing me in a different direction."
