Candidates Emerge for County Clerk Race

Menomonee Falls Republican announces intent to run and Waukesha County Democratic Party has found a candidate to run.

A Menomonee Falls Republican has filed a campaign registration statement in the 2012 election against Kathy Nickolaus.

Kurt Heins, a young political hopeful, has posted his first campaign video on YouTube. His news release announcing his intention to run is found here. His Facebook page for his campaign is found here.

A voice message for Heins left from Patch was not immediately returned.

Meanwhile, blogs identify a candidate running for the county clerk’s seat for the Waukesha County Democratic Party. There has been a candidate identified to run and there will be an announcement in the near future, according to a party insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“The party does feel confident that this is a quality candidate,” said the insider.

Nickolaus made national news this spring when she failed to release the City of Brookfield's results from the hotly contested state Supreme Court race between David Prosser and JoAnne Kloppenburg.

The mistake led to a state investigation into what happened on the April 6 election night. The Government Accountability Board . 

Nickolaus, in a June 2, 2011, article that appeared in The Freeman, said she would seek re-election and that she expects there to be opponents in the election.

“But I’ll work to build that confidence and trust from the electorate before I get to my re-election campaign,” Nickolaus told the Waukesha newspaper.
