Bridge Painting Will Hamper Travel, But Not for Memorial Day

Stadium bridges will receive a new paint job this week, but WisDOT says work will not hamper holiday travel.

According to a release received on Monday, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has begun needed repainting of bridges on I-94 in and around the Stadium Interchange.

The lane closures began late on Sunday and will be in place until noon on Friday May 25. The project will restart on Monday night May 28 and run until Thursday May 31 or until the project is finished. There will be lane closures impacting different lanes over the course of the project. Current plans for repainting work:

  • Thursday May 24- Reopen I-94 eastbound ramp to US 41 northbound.
  • Friday May 25- Reopen US 41 southbound ramp to I-94 eastbound.
  • Friday May 25- Noon- Pull back barrels end work until late Monday.
  • Monday May 28- westbound closures back in place.
  • Thursday May 31- Repainting work ends, all lanes and ramps open.

This work is subject to adverse weather conditions. WisDOT employees are available for comment on this project.
