Apartment Projects Coming Before Plan Commission

Community based residential facility again before city body.

Plans for a are again before the Plan Commission, despite being denied in May for a proposal in the same subdivision.

St. Coletta of Wisconsin is asking the Plan Commission to grant an exception to the state and city code that prohibits group homes from being within 2,500 feet of each other.Β

Previous plans from St. Coletta’s were for two homes in the Welsh Oak subdivision. The request has been reduced to one living facility. The proposal brought concern from area neighbors who already had another community based living facility project denied in 2010.

It is also asking to place a residential living facility in the Rolling Ridge subdivision, which would except the capacity of community living arrangements that are in Aldermanic District 14. Special exceptions would have to be granted in order for the plans to move forward.

Two proposed apartment building projects are also appearing before the Plan Commission. Lexington Homes is seeking final plan approval to build a new 30-unit apartment building at 212 W. North St. where a fire destroyed a similar sized building in January.
