Could Waukesha have new apartment buildings in different areas of the city?
A proposal from MSP Development Co. to rezone a vacant parcel of land along Meadow Lane, which is near Silvernail Road and North Grandview Boulevard, from temporary zoning to multi-family residential zoning is going before the Plan Commission at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 201 Delafield St. The entire parcel is 9.5 acres.
MSP Development Co. also is seeking preliminary plan approval for a 94-unit apartment building on 7.95 acres of the land. A 34-unit memory care facility being proposed by the same company is also going before the Plan Commission for preliminary plan approval.
Meanwhile, developers from The Kendal Group are seeking final plan approval as they look to develop a 42-unit apartment building at 456 W. Main St. The Kendal Lofts are proposed The project has met with some criticism and concerns about parking availability in the downtown area, while others have publicly supported the project.
The first floor of the four-story building is parking and the next three floors are for apartment units. The original plans called for underground parking, which was not feasible because of flooding concerns given the proximity of the Fox River. The plans involve razing the vacant building that previously housed O’Brien Photography.
