Woman Faces Charges for Attacking a Family Member

Suspect, 19, had been dabbling in hallucinogenic drugs several months prior to her arrest, according to complaint.

A 19-year-old Waukesha woman is facing charges after she allegedly beat up a family member in an irrational state where she was referring to herself as “God.”

Brittany T. Peters was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of battery domestic abuse, one count of resisting an officer and one count of disorderly conduct domestic abuse. If convicted, she faces up to 21 months in prison and $21,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 2, officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of West Laflin Avenue after Peters began hitting a family member after she had gotten into an argument with them. Another family member told officers Peters had been dabbling in hallucinogenic drugs and she had currently “gone out of her mind.”

When she goes into a state, the complaint states she would stop making sense when she spoke and refer to herself as God while becoming violent and aggressive towards family members.

While being taken into custody, Peters began trying to pull away from an officer, causing the officer to break his watch, according to the complaint.
