Woman Charged with 5th OWI After Driving With 2 Kids

Suspect, 32, was found passed out behind the wheel of a pickup truck, according to criminal complaint.

A 32-year-old Waukesha woman is facing her fifth operating while intoxicated charge after she was spotted by another woman passed out in a pickup truck after having driven two young children, according to a criminal complaint filed in

According to the criminal complaint, a woman spotted Jennifer E. Williams passed out behind the wheel of a truck Sunday in the 2500 block of West Sunset Drive and two children ages 5 and 3 were running up the witness' driveway. When she asked the children how they got to her house, they pointed at Williams in the pickup truck.

The woman then went to confront Williams who told her the children belonged to a friend of hers. The woman then told Williams she was going to call police, but Williams tried to grab the children and start the truck, however, the witness was able to get the keys from her, the complaint states

After police found Williams she told them she had driven from her home to her mother’s house and hadn’t drank anything since arriving at the house. She then failed field sobriety tests and refused to give a breath test.

Williams was previously convicted of drunken driving in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2009. She faces up to 13 years in prison and $22,500 in fines if convicted on one count of fifth offense OWI and one count of operating after revocation of her license.

She’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $4,999 cash bond.
