Waukesha Woman Caught With Cocaine in Brookfield

Suspect told police she was using the drug earlier in the night before getting behind the wheel, a criminal complaint alleges.

A Waukesha woman drove while impaired after taking cocaine, a criminal complaint alleges.

Sandra M. Brunia, 41, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of possession of cocaine. If convicted, she faces up to one year in county jail and $5,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 2:20 a.m. May 14, Brunia was pulled over by Brookfield police officers near Calhoun Road and Bluemound Road, where she ended up being arrested for operating while intoxicated. Officers then searched her purse where they found cocaine inside a plastic bag.

Brunia said she had been using the drug earlier in the night before she was arrested.

She will make her initial appearance in court July 9.
