Wind Lake Man Charged in Drunken Downtown Rampage

Suspect is caught after he smashes out the window of a business while carrying stolen buckets used for cigarette butts, according to criminal complaint.

A 25-year-old Wind Lake man is facing multiple charges after he went on a drunken rampage through downtown Waukesha where he smashed out a business’ window, knocked over planters and stole buckets used to store cigarette butts, according to a criminal complaint.

Arthur A. Bodanske was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Wednesday with one count of carrying a concealed weapon, one count of criminal damage to property and one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 21 months in prison and $21,000 in fines.

At 11:37 p.m. Feb. 29, Waukesha police officers were called to the 300 block of West Main Street after a woman noticed a window to s had recently been smashed out and a silver bucket was lying nearby. While talking to the officers, they heard a disturbance in a nearby alley where they found Bodanske standing with another man.

Bodanske was holding two silver buckets and approached the officer, refusing to back off, which forced the officer to push him back to the curb. The other man told police he was Bodanske’s friend and was trying to take him home after he began knocking over planters, stealing buckets put out to get cigarette butts and smashing out the window with his elbow.

Bodanske had a blood alcohol level of 0.21 percent at the time and kept slamming his head on the cage inside the squad car after he was arrested.

He will make his initial appearance in court July 2.
