Waukesha police officers were dispatched to the home after it was reported people were burglarizing the home and had broken glass to gain entry, the complaint states.

When police arrived, citizens in the area flagged down police and pointed that the suspects were running down the alley, according to the complaint. A Waukesha officer recognized Carpenter from past contacts and saw Carpenter drop two handfuls of property and ran behind a house.
