Waukesha Police Officer Injured After Squad Crashes on Way to Call

Officer was responding to a battery that was reported as a robbery in progress

A Waukesha police officer was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital and later released after the squad car he was driving crashed into two civilian vehicles on the way to a call that was reported to the police department as a robbery in progress at 6:50 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. John Konkol in a news release.

The only person who was injured was the police officer, Konkol said, and the accident is under investigation. The officer was traveling to the call in emergency fashion with lights and siren.

The robbery call in the 200 block of East Sunset Drive was actually a battery complaint with minor injuries to the victim, Konkol said. No one was taken into custody for that call at this time.
