Waukesha Police Department Accreditation Presentation Scheduled for Tuesday

Making department accredited was one of the police chief's first goals.

When Police Chief Russell Jack was promoted to the top spot in the Waukesha Police Department in fall 2009, one of his primary goals was to help make the department achieve accreditation status.

The Waukesha Police Department's accreditation was unanimously approved by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) Board last month. The board will be giving the Common Council a presentation about the accreditation at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 201 Delafield St.

Assessors from Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group visited the department in January to review the police department, which had to meet 238 standards in order to be accredited.

"Accreditation is important because it provides affirmation that the Waukesha Police Department is professional, maintains high standards and is proficient in all areas of law enforcement," said Jack in a January news release.
