Waukesha Police Capt. Receives Letter of Commendation for Accreditation Work

Police Chief Russell Jack thanks his captain for the "tireless efforts" during past year.

Capt. Chris Connolly received praise from Police Chief Russell Jack during Tuesday’s Common Council meeting for his hard work that led to the police department becoming accredited.

“Without his tireless efforts over the last 13 or 14 months, we would not become an accredited agency,” Jack said. “He spent many, many hours assigned to this task and kept all of us on task as we completed our parts of the accreditation process.”

Jack also publicly thanked all the employees who assisted in the accreditation process.

The Waukesha Police Department's accreditation was unanimously approved by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) Board in late March. Assessors from Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group visited the department in January to review the police department, which had to meet 238 standards in order to be accredited.

Jack also sent Connolly a letter of commendation on April 3, 2011.

Captain Christopher Connolly
Waukesha Police Department

LETTER OF COMMENDATION

During 2010, Captain Chris Connolly endured a year-long project in which he championed the accreditation process for our department through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG). Capt. Connolly took the process, which had taken 11 years up to that point, and reworked the antiquated system.  Through countless man-hours both on and off duty, Capt. Connolly created a data-based model for the accreditation process, which the WILEAG board considered a model for other agencies to follow. The WILEAG review board reviewed all 600 proofs in record time and voted unanimously to approve our departments application for accreditation.

Thank you for your dedication to the department and for your innovative approach to this project, which will serve as a benchmark for other departments in the state to follow.

Sincerely,
Russell P. Jack
Chief of Police
